Director of Material Management needed for a 330 bed not for profit Hospital affiliated with a University Healthcare system.

Will report to the Senior VP, Finance and CFO.

The Director Material Management assists and supports the supply chain management strategy by facilitating the delivery of specific programs and services at the right time, best possible cost and leveraging system-wide economies of scale.
  • Must have excellent leadership skills to set the tone and vision for the organization.  Also, teaching, training and inspiring the Materials Management Team.
  • Develops, implements and manages the supply chaIn strategy, including day-to-day purchasing, receiving, distribution and storage of supplies.
  • Negotiates the acquisition of routine capital needs, large project capital meeds and service contract pricing.
  • Supports system cost savings objectives and implementing Best Practices in support of budgeted procurement and productivity initiatives.
  • Actively engages with counterparts through Value Analysis processes to maximize the savings and collaborative advantages of system membership.
  • Maximizes utilization of the Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts, supply and non-sully value added programs, comparative information resources,
  • experience sharing and Group Buy Programs.
  • Measures compliance with GPO, and locally negotiated contracts, and validates savings annually for each cost saving avenue.
  • Identifies contract gaps in the contract portfolio and communicate opportunities with counterparts.
  • Adheres to Corporate Compliance Plan and ensures all Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations, hospital and departmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Engages Physicians and other Clinicians in proactively identifying, selecting, sourcing, procuring distributing products and services for the hospital, recognizing significant issues
  • that may impact patients, such as product/service selections, physician preferences item, supply chain service quality, product availability, emergency and disaster response management,
  • recalls, hazardous waster and end of life issues for item.
  • Facilitates the Value Analysis process for the Hospital an serves to coordinate communication of the Value Analysis Initiatives within the healthcare system. Facilitates product trials,
  • evaluations and supply formulary developments to best meet the needs of the Hospital.
  • Manage inventory and par locations to provide adequate supply in the most cost efficient manner.
  • Develops the annual Capital Budget through organizing and provides counsel to directors and administrative team, leading to final budget recommendation to the Board.
  • Develops annual Operating Budget for Materials Management and ensuring the department operates within the allocated funds.
  • Responsible for Charge Audit Process for Surgical Services areas. Actively reviews and measures effectiveness of Audit process to validate accurate and timely charges are being processed to patient billing and therefore driving revenue.
  • Leads Materials Management Team to improve the current status of the department and the hospital through effective change management.  Ensures teammates understand
  • the reasons for and comply with all Safety and Risk Management Policies and Procedures.
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or Healthcare Administration.
  • MBA strongly preferred.

  • Five years of materials management experience with a minimum of three years as a Director or similar capacity.
  • Track record of strong teammate engagement
  • CRMP (Certified Materials Resource Professional) preferred.
